She is Gone

by David Harkins

You can shed tears that she is gone
or you can smile because she has lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that she’ll come back
or you can open your eyes and see all she’s left.
Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her
or you can be full of the love you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember her and only that she’s gone
or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back
or you can do what she’d want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

A Mother’s Love

by Helen Steiner Rice

A Mother’s love is something
that no on can explain,
It is made of deep devotion
and of sacrifice and pain,
It is endless and unselfish
and enduring come what may
For nothing can destroy it
or take that love away…
It is patient and forgiving
when all others are forsaking,
And it never fails or falters
even though the heart is breaking…
It believes beyond believing
when the world around condemns,
And it glows with all the beauty
of the rarest, brightest gems…
It is far beyond defining,
it defies all explanation,
And it still remains a secret
like the mysteries of creation…
A many splendoured miracle
man cannot understand
And another wondrous evidence
of God’s tender guiding hand.

Thank You Mom

by My-Thank-You-Site.com

You were there for me
To take me to school
to help with my hair
pick out the right shoes
for my first date
and even my prom
for that and much more
Thank you Mom.

Irish Funeral Poems for Mom

You can only have one mother
Patient kind and true;
No other friend in all the world,
Will be the same to you.
When other friends forsake you,
To mother you will return,
For all her loving kindness,
She asks nothing in return.
As we look upon her picture,
Sweet memories we recall,
Of a face so full of sunshine,
And a smile for one and all.
Sweet Jesus, take this message,
To our dear mother up above;
Tell her how we miss her,
And give her all our love.

Beautiful poem. Other that making a call I think it is best if you also send poems like this as your condolence words and if you are not that far, attend the funeral is possible. Say simple words like “you are in my thoughts” or “I’m very sorry to hear about your loss”. These are really conforting in times of great pain. Deliver it with love and care. Fantastic!
